I purchased the car from my neighbours son on a summer Sunday afternoon in June 1999. Cosmetically it looked very good as you can see from the photographs. In the rain water came through the foot well soaking the floor mats and it wasn't till I had to take it in for its MOT that I realised that it was a rust bucket. Of course it failed the MOT. I took it into a Mini specialist in Braintree and to cut a long story short had the car completely restored as you will see from the slides below at a cost of nearly £20,000.
It is my pride and joy. Used only in the summer months and the most that I have done in a year so far is about 300 miles.
After the car was restored I took it to a number of shows as you can see from the second slide show below. It is a great little fun car to drive and every year I just cannot wait till the runner starts so that I can get the Mini out on to the road.
During the past few years I have taken the Mini to a few shows. In the main they were very enjoyable.
